- Start a new document to get ready. Choose "Page Layout", and there are many choices.
- First, choose "Margins" > "Custom Margins" .
- You set up the margins 0.5 as follows to make the sign use most available space.
- Set Gutter Position as Left and Orientation as Landscape.
- Choose "Apply to whole document" in Apply to drop-down list so that you can see the entire page. Then click "OK" .
- The page has a little differences.
- Choose "Insert", and click the Shapes arrow. Then select the Rectangle.
- A rectangle appears on the page.
- Click "Format" to choose one style from shape styles.
- The selected shape style is as follows.
- Follow the steps of making rectangles to make another below the first one. And then hold on "Shift" key; at the same time, click one rectangle and then another.
- Right mouth click, "Grouping" > "Group".
- The two rectangles are together.
- Click "Insert" > "Text Box".
- You can also set up the second recntangle. Change the color and weight as follows. Then click "OK" .
- You will get two rectangles' outline the same color .
- Click the arrow, and choose "Draw Text box".
- You can also set up the text box. Click the Color arrow and select "No Fill".
- Click the "Shape Outline" , and choose "No Outline".
- Type your words into the textbox.
- To make your sign more pretty, you can insert pictures. Click Insert-> Illustrations-> Picture.
- Click "Insert" > "Picture" and the picture is on the page.
- Now, you have designed beautiful signs in word.
- You can save it and then print it. Then you can deliver it to people in the activity.
Tips
I just display the main steps, and there are really many details you can make your decisions by yourselves. For example, the words' color, size and formats, you can adjust them as you make your normal word documents. Moreover, select the background's color and pictures to match your theme.
